The Paris Musketeers fought valiantly yet came up short against the defending European League of Football champions in front of raucous crowd at Stade Jean Bouin in Paris. The Musketeers began the scoring on their opening drive by moving efficiently down the field, capped with a five yard Jason Aguemon TD over the right side. The Rhein Fire answered with a 42-yard field goal early in the second quarter, before Zach Edwards found Florian Larose on a deep post for a 35-yard score and a 14-3 lead. But British running back Glen Toonga kept the Fire in the game, often in large chunks. He would finish with 201 rushing yards to go with another 54 in the air, including the go-ahead 1-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Paris LB Dauson Dales was all over the field, ending the game with 13 total tackles.
The Musketeers drove deep into Fire territory with four minutes remaining, but a fourth-down pass to Bertellin in the endzone went incomplete, and a punt-return touchdown moments later by WR Austin Mitchell was nullified by a penalty. While the loss ended the Musketeers mission to stay undefeated, it showed they are among the elite teams in the ELF.
